Homelessness in Swindon
Swindon’s growing homelessness crisis is among the worst in England. Local authority figures from 2025 reveal:
- ·
Over 900 people are
homeless in Swindon
- ·
17 people are rough
sleeping on any given night
- ·
Street sleeping has
increased by 13% in one year
- ·
Nearly 800 households
are at risk of homelessness
- ·
Nearly 60% of
homeless households have dependent children
- ·
Swindon’s rate of
homelessness is over a third higher than in the southwest of England as a whole
The numbers in this snapshot do
not include people who are unofficially homeless, at risk of homelessness, living
in inadequate or insecure housing, squatting or ‘sofa-surfing’ at friends’ or
families’ homes. We do not know the full extent of homelessness due to the many
people without stable accommodation who fall under the radar. The true scale of homelessness in Swindon may
be much worse.
